In May 2016, JSDA set up the Survey Group for the Research on the Securities Industry and FinTech with JSRI (Japan Securities Research Institute) to study the current status of FinTech and to attempt a fundamental evaluation of the implications of FinTech for the securities industry. On January 26, 2017, the Survey Group published its report, outlining the results of the series of discussions conducted within the Group.

Following this, the Research Group on the Securities Industry and FinTech was formed, which held eight meetings between June 2017 and March 2018 to investigate how FinTech may change the future of securities businesses. In June 2018, the Research Group published a report summarizing the results of its discussion.
