Monthly Securities Trading Breakdown

Purpose

The breakdown of monthly trading of Green Sheet issues by type of security is publicized to provide information that can be used as a reference for investment decisions.

 

Definitions

  • "Trading volume" is the total of the number of shares traded on the specified day or the number of shares traded during the specified period.
  • "Trading value" is the total value of shares traded on the specified day or the total value of shares traded during the specified period.
  • "Trading period" is the specified period for the transactions to be included in the calculation.

Data Source

Figures are gathered according to the breakdowns by type of security of the daily or monthly totals of trading as reported by member firms to the JSDA in accordance with Article 35, Paragraphs 5 to 7 of its self-regulatory rule Regulations Concerning Green Sheet Issues and Phoenix Issues.

 

Instruction for use

  • Prices are shown in units of one yen.
  • Units of volume are one share for shares, one certificates par value for share option certificates and new investment unit subscription warrant securities, millions of yen for bonds with share option, and one unit for preferred equity investment certificates and investment securities.

Publication Timing

These figures are publicized monthly around the start of the month on JSDA's website.


Annual Securities Trading Breakdown

Purpose

The breakdown of annual trading of Green Sheet issues by type of security is publicized to provide information that can be used as a reference for investment decisions.

 

Definitions

  • "Trading volume" is the total of the number of shares traded during the specified period.
  • "Trading value" is the total value of shares traded during the specified period.
  • "Trading period" is the specified period for the transactions to be included in the calculation.

Data Source

Figures are gathered according to the breakdowns by type of security of annual trading as reported by member firms to the JSDA in accordance with Article 35, Paragraphs 5 to 7 of its self-regulatory regulation Regulations Concerning Green Sheet Issues and Phoenix Issues.

The Trend in New Issues (Green Sheet Issues)

Purpose

The trend in new issues registered as Green Sheet issues is publicized to enable the general public to understand the Green Sheet system.

 

Definitions

  • The "Emerging" section includes stocks issued by companies that have been determined by a securities firm examination as appropriate to be designated as growth issues on the Green Sheet.
  • The "Ordinary" section includes stocks that have been determined by a securities firm examination as appropriate to be designated as the Green Sheet Issue.
  • The "Phoenix" section was for stocks, etc. that had been delisted from exchanges but for which securities firms had determined that maintaining trading liquidity was necessary. However, the JSDA abolished this category as of March 31, 2008.
  • The "Regional" section was for stocks, etc. that did not fit in either the "Emerging" or "Phoenix" category. However, the JSDA also abolished this category as of April 1, 2005.
  • The Investment Trust/ SPC section includes preferred equity investment certificates and investment securities that have been determined by a securities firm examination as appropriate to be designated as the Green Sheet Issue.

Data Source

Figures are gathered from the issues for which members have applied for and received Green Sheet designation from the JSDA in accordance with Article 9 its self-regulatory rule "Regulations Concerning Green Sheet Issues and Phoenix Issues".

 

Instruction for use

  • Monthly trends are shown only up to the end of the previous fiscal year.
  • Multiple issues made by issuers that already have a common stock designated as the Green Sheet Issue are regarded as only one issue no matter the type of issue.

Publication Timing

These figures are publicized monthly around the start of the month on JSDA's website.


The Trend in Number of Issues (Green Sheet Issues)

Purpose

The trend in number of issues registered as Green Sheet issues is publicized to enable the general public to understand the Green Sheet system.

 

Definitions

  • The "Emerging" section includes stocks issued by companies that have been determined by a securities firm examination as appropriate to be designated as growth issues on the Green Sheet.
